MARTYRDOM OF GURU ARJUN SAHIB
MARTYRDOM OF GURU ARJUN DEV JI
As Guru Nanak Sahib’s Divine Message began to spread among more and more people all over India, the zealots of other religions – particularly Hinduism and Islam – began to oppose Sikhism with more vigour. The main reason for the opposition was the death blow to the highly popular but very misleading rituals of both the religions that the Principles of Sikhism hit at. The priests of both faiths felt threatened as more and more people began to follow the simple and meaningful Principles of Sikhism. The loss in the number of followers in the two main religions meant less and less income to their respective institutions and to themselves as individuals.Written by Dr. Devinder Singh Sekhon PhD 11 February 2014
LIBERATION OF GURDWARAS
LIBERATION OF THE HISTORICAL GURDWARAS
The Sikh history is replete with supreme sacrifices and martyrdoms. There is hardly a day in the calendar on which some Sikh did not make some sacrifice. So, although each and every month has its share of sacrifices, the month of February has its own importance in terms of sacrifices because hundreds of Sikhs were butchered in a barbaric way for their peaceful agitation to liberate the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara from a highly immoral Mahant who was using the holy premises of the historical Gurdwara for all sorts of immoral activities.

HELL AND HEAVEN IN SIKHISM
HELL AND HEAVEN IN SIKHISM
Almost all religions of the world believe in some sort of hell and heaven where the people go after their death. They are supposed to be places somewhere in the sky. In general, Heaven or paradise is supposed to be the place where the Supreme Being (God) resides. It is supposed to be the most beautiful place in the universe with beautiful gardens, orchards, rivers, water springs and mountains. People who go there are supposed to enjoy all the luxuries of life. On the contrary, hell is a place where the sinners are sent and tortured. Fire is supposed to be burning in the hell all the time to punish its residents. You must have heard the popular curse "burn in hell". Souls in the Hell are guarded by very scary looking creatures and the residents are given very poor meals, and so on. A brief description of the two places is given below according to the beliefs of different religions.Page 1 of 9
